Crowns & Bridges
A bridge is one option that you have when deciding how to deal with a missing tooth or teeth. The replacement of missing teeth is necessary in order to maintain proper function. Tooth loss can affect the way you eat, speak and the alignment of other teeth in your mouth. If an implant can be placed, it is always the treatment of choice. Types of CrownsIf we decide that you are in need of a full crown, there are a few different options for the repair of your tooth. These options include a full porcelain crown, a porcelain fused to metal or gold crown or a full gold crown. We will make the determination as to which of these options is the most appropriate for your situation. Types of BridgesA bridge, by definition, is a link or connection between two permanent structures. A dental bridge is very similar in that it attaches the restorative teeth (bridge) to the natural teeth on either side of the space. This bridge acts as your new teeth, closing the space and restoring your smile. Bridges are often constructed of gold or metal frameworks with porcelain fused to the foundation. This ensures that the bridge will support the normal functions of the mouth. Bridges also can be supported by dental implants. Gold & Porcelain CrownsFor a period of 5 years from the date of service, we will refund the cost of a crown or bridge due to breakage or misfit at no cost to the patient. Gold and porcelain crowns are the same for practically all cases except that porcelain can chip. Approximately 1 out of every 100 porcelain crowns chip and need replacement. This will never happen with gold crowns. If your porcelain crown chips in the first 5 years, we will replace it free. However, if it chips after the 5-year period, you will be charged the regular fee for a new crown. This should be taken into consideration when choosing between porcelain and gold. |
